About the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the VSLA
The Roanoke Valley Chapter of the VSLA serves teachers in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Botetourt County, City of Salem, Franklin County, and Craig County, Virginia.
The Roanoke Valley Chapter is an affiliate of the Virginia State Literacy Association (VSLA) and is actively engaged in the promotion of literacy among teachers, students, parents, and the communities throughout the Valley. The Roanoke Valley Chapter provides opportunities for increased communication and professional growth. Literacy activities designed to meet the needs of teachers, students, parents, and the Roanoke Valley communities are planned each year.
GOALS
To support the professional growth of educators through conferences, publications, and affiliation with the VSLA.

To encourage community support through annual events, one of which is the Literacy Tea where students, teachers, and members of the community are recognized

To enhance student appreciation of literature through the Virginia Readers' Choice and the Young Writers Program
