Literature Roundtables are events sponsored by the Virginia State Literacy Association, Roanoke Valley Chapter, to encourage students to participate in the Virginia Reader’s Choice Program.

• Eligibility: Schools who are part of Botetourt County Public Schools, Craig County Public Schools, Franklin County Public Schools, Roanoke City Public Schools, Roanoke County Public Schools, & Salem Public Schools.

• Membership: School sponsor of the VRC program must be a member of the Virginia State Literacy Association, Roanoke Branch.

• Voting: Students participate in voting for the current year’s VRC book selection

• Application: From January 1, 2026 through March 31, 2026, an application may be obtained by clicking HERE or by emailing: LibrariansonFile@gmail.com

The Literature Roundtable takes place at the applicant’s school. It may take place during the school day or after school, depending on the needs of the school population. The event will take about an hour, including

• Voting for VRC books

• A ventriloquist show

• Personalized certificate of participation in VRC program for the school or class

• Selection of a book to take home for each student
